In water-based paints, our METHOCEL™ polymers and POLYOX™ water-soluble resins can help to control viscosity and rheology. They can also be applied to promote uniform application, film coalescence and adhesion to the substrate.
Our ETHOCEL™ family of polymers provide similar benefits in solvent-based paints. Whereas applying Lattice® NTC microcrystalline cellulose to water-based coatings and paints – a green chemistry alternative to non-renewable chemicals – improves stability and homogeneity, as well as leveling and sagging.
LATTICE® NTC Product Features | Functional benefits |
---|---|
Forms a structured 3D network in water | Unique stabilization, suspension and rheology modification, with minimal increase in viscosity Thixotropic Thermal stability (both high and low temperature) Improved leveling and reduced sagging Naturally derived (from cellulose), green chemistry alternative to non-renewable materials |

Our most-widely used polymer for printing ink applications is WALSRODER™ Nitrocellulose. We also offer ETHOCEL™ ethyl cellulose for multiple printing processes, such as gravure, flexography, and screen printing – where it can be used as a high-quality rheology modifier, film-former and binder for solvent-based printing inks. In addition, our ETHOCEL™ polymers can act as wetting agents during the pigment grinding process to ensure that pigments and dyes remain dispersed.
Our POLYOX™ WSR and METHOCEL™ polymer families can also be applied as rheology modifiers and stabilizers; contributing to improved gloss and adhesion in water-based systems.
